Wedding Photography Story

Kaitlin and Jeremy’s wedding day didn’t start the way they originally planned, but it turned into something even more meaningful. Early that morning, strong winds had torn through their original venue, knocking over the tent and scattering decorations that had been set the night before. Plans quickly shifted, and with the help of friends and family, everything moved to a new location. What could have been overwhelming instead became a picture of people coming together to make the day happen.

When I arrived, Jeremy was getting ready, quietly focused as he buttoned his suit and adjusted his cufflinks. There was a calm, steady energy there that carried into the rest of the day. Not long after, we made our way to the ceremony location, a backyard that had been completely transformed. Soft florals, a wooden arch, and thoughtful details made it feel intimate, personal, and full of intention.

As Kaitlin walked down the aisle, everything slowed down. The ceremony felt genuine and relaxed, with handwritten vows, laughter, and a few emotional moments that made it clear just how much these two mean to each other. After they said “I do,” they walked back down the aisle together, surrounded by cheers and the people closest to them. One of my favorite parts of the day came right after the ceremony, when Kaitlin and Jeremy shared a quiet moment together beneath the arch, just the two of them taking it all in.

As the evening transitioned into the reception, the backyard came to life in a different way. String lights turned on, music started, and the atmosphere shifted into celebration. Guests gathered, conversations filled the space, and the dance floor didn’t stay empty for long. There were moments of laughter, friends capturing memories on their phones, and a few unforgettable dance floor moments that made the night feel completely their own.

At one point during the reception, I stepped aside to pull a few images from my camera, edited them on my phone, and printed them on a portable printer. Handing those to Kaitlin and Jeremy as a “pre-sneak peek sneak peek” was such a fun moment and a small way to let them relive part of the day while it was still happening. From a chaotic start to a joyful, intentional ending, their wedding was a reminder that the best moments aren’t about everything going perfectly, but about being surrounded by the right people and celebrating something real.
