Wedding Story

Lily and Brent’s wedding at Sequoia Mansion by Wedgewood Weddings in Placerville, California had the kind of energy that makes a wedding day feel easy to remember. It was warm, relaxed, emotional, and full of people who were genuinely excited to celebrate them.

From the beginning of the day, Focus Video was focused on more than simply filming what happened. A wedding film depends on the full rhythm of the day, so we worked alongside photographer Luke Herrala of A Perfect Impression to keep the experience smooth for Lily, Brent, and their wedding party. Before the major moments began, we coordinated first look positioning, talked through ceremony coverage, and made sure photo and video could work together without adding pressure to the couple.

The morning started with the quiet details and getting ready moments. Lily’s dress, finishing touches, makeup, the movement of family and friends, and the natural anticipation before the first look all helped set the tone for the film. These are the pieces that often go by quickly in real time, but they are what make a wedding film feel personal years later.

Brent and the guys brought a fun, casual energy to the day. Between cufflinks, pocket squares, ring logistics, and the usual wedding party jokes, there were plenty of small moments that made the day feel honest and unscripted. Those behind the scenes pieces matter because they help tell the story of what the day actually felt like, not just what it looked like.

Lily and Brent’s first look was one of the key moments of the day. It gave them space to see each other before the ceremony, take a breath, and move into portraits with a little more calm. After that, the day flowed into couple portraits, wedding party photos, and family photos around Sequoia Mansion.

Before the ceremony, Focus Video also checked in with the DJ to make sure the audio setup was ready. Clean audio is one of the most important parts of a wedding film, especially for the ceremony, vows, speeches, and the moments couples want to hear again years from now.

The indoor ceremony was heartfelt, simple, and full of personality. Guests were invited to be present, put their phones away, and let the photo and video team capture the moment. Lily and Brent exchanged rings, made their promises, and were pronounced husband and wife in front of the people who love them most.

After the ceremony, the celebration continued with family photos, couple portraits, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception speeches. The speeches brought even more heart to the day, with stories about Lily, Brent, their friendships, their families, and the people who traveled to celebrate with them.

What stood out most about Lily and Brent’s wedding was how natural everything felt. The day was organized without feeling stiff, emotional without feeling overly formal, and joyful without needing to be forced. Focus Video was honored to capture not only the big moments, but also the quiet, funny, and meaningful in between moments that made their wedding day feel like theirs.

Their wedding film preserves the feeling of the day: the anticipation before the first look, the joy of the ceremony, the care behind the scenes, the laughter during portraits, and the celebration that followed.

Read Lily’s 5-Star Review

Myke was an incredible videographer, and hiring him was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. That’s the TL;DR, but if you’re a bride planning a wedding, I’m sure you’ll want the full review:

The process started with a video call so we could get to know each other. I was originally planning not to have a videographer at all (and considering asking a family member or friend with some video production experience to record our wedding), so I had a lot of questions while comparing different options. Myke took the time to answer every one of them and immediately put my mind at ease. From our first conversation, it was clear that he genuinely cared about his couples and their experience.

What really set Myke apart was his personality and professionalism. Anyone can point a camera at an event, and any experienced professional should be able to produce a quality video, but Myke brought an extra level of comfort and ease to the day. My husband and I are both uncomfortable in front of cameras and generally dislike having our photos taken. We knew we wanted to document the day, but we were worried about feeling awkward or overly staged. Myke made the entire experience feel natural and effortless.

After the wedding, I quickly realized how grateful I was that we had invested in videography. The day goes by so fast, and I was so focused on holding back tears and keeping myself composed that I couldn’t remember every word from the ceremony and speeches. Being able to relive those moments has been priceless.

We originally opted for just the highlights video, but shortly after the wedding, I reached out to Myke about upgrading to the full package. He was incredibly flexible and accommodating, and despite the added work, he still delivered everything right on the timeline he originally estimated (about a month after our wedding).

The delivery process was seamless. Our videos were uploaded to an online platform that made viewing, downloading, and providing feedback incredibly easy. We had a few edit requests after reviewing the initial versions, and the platform allowed us to leave timestamped comments directly on the video. Myke was patient, understanding, and quick to make the requested changes.

Most importantly, the final films were beautiful. Myke captured the genuine emotion, personality, and atmosphere of our wedding day. Watching the videos feels like experiencing the day all over again, not just for us, but for our family and friends as well.

We wholeheartedly recommend Myke/Focus Video to any couple considering wedding videography. If you’re on the fence about whether you need a wedding video, take it from someone who almost skipped it, you’ll be incredibly thankful to have those memories preserved.
